Galen L. Kula age 52 of rural Anamosa died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at his home in the arms of his wife, Sherry.
A celebration of Galen's life will be held 10:30 Wednesday morning at the Cass Center Church, rural Anamosa with interment in the Cass Center Cemetery. Rev. Jonathan Kosec will officiate at the services. Friends may register at the church after 9:30 Wednesday. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa is caring for Galen and his family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving is his loving wife, Sherry, 2 sons, Thomas of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Matthew of Anamosa, 4 brothers, Greg (Marilyn), of Anamosa, Garold of North Liberty, Gene (Diane) of Springville, Gordon of Marion, 6 sisters, Gloria Kula, Gail (John) Barnes, Glenice (Kelly) Hesket, Glarice Kula all of Anamosa, Glenda (Gerald) Covington, Palo, Gwen (Curt) Edwards, Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers Richard and Gary.
Galen Lee Kula was born January 27, 1956 at Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Leroy F. and Minnie B. (Shaw) Kula. Galen received his education in the Anamosa Schools graduating with the Class of 1975. Galen farmed in Cass Township and also worked at the Anamosa Lumber Yard. He had worked as a truck driver for Pepsi, ADM and the Anamosa Feed Mill. Galen married his wife Sherry Lathrop, 32 years ago on January 16, 1976 at the Onslow Presbyterian Church.
Galen was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He loved to go camping, and have a bonfire and talk with friends. He was very proud of his two sons.
