Stanley Francis Kula
January 31, 1916 – October 26, 1984
Services were held Oct. 29 for Stanley F. Kula, 68, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, with burial at the church cemetery. The Rev. Fr. John R. Hussmann and the Rev. Fr. Joseph V. O'Brien officiated at the services.
A Knights of Columbus rosary by Council 1821 was held Sunday evening at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with a 4th Degree Honor Guard by Council 1821 of Bower Assembly.
Stanley F. Kula, Cedar Rapids and formerly of the Prairieburg and Monticello areas, died Oct. 26 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a heart attack.
Stanley Francis Kula was born Jan. 31, 1916, at Prairieburg, the son of A. C. and Mary Houser Kula. He received his early education in the Prairieburg schools. He later attended high school in Coggon, where he graduated in 1934. Stanley then worked for Klinger Paint Company in CedarRapids, and was later transferred to their store in Clinton.
Stanley F. Kula and Kathryn Gassen were married Aug. 28, 1940, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa. The couple made their home in Clinton, where Stanley was employed by Klinger Paint Co. and later by the DuPont Company. In 1943, the couple moved to Cedar Rapids, where Stanley worked for Collins Radio.
In 1947, the couple moved to thePrairieburg area, where they farmed for 20 years. In 1968, Stanley went to work for Freese Motors as a car salesman. The couple moved to Monticello in 1973, where they lived until moving to Cedar Rapids in May 1984.
Stanley was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, and had been a member of St. Joseph's in Prairieburg and Sacred Heart in Monticello. He was also amember of the Knights of Columbus, andwas a 4th Degree Knight of Bowen Assembly, Council 1821.
Stanley is survived by his wife; five children, Stephen Kula and Mrs. Patricia Russell, both of Prairieburg, Mrs. Susan Frischkorn of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Mary Theresa Harris of Kansas City, Mo., and Joseph Kula of Conifer, Colo.; and 10 grand-children. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Kula of Monticello, and two brothers, Ernest Kula of Independence, Albert Lee Kula of Marshfield, Wis. He was preceded in death by his father.
Casket bearers were Richard Russell, Bill Mayfield, Louis Freese, Leo Holub, Ralph Kula and Carl Kintzle.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
