Frances Elizabeth Lawrence Kula
Mrs. Joseph T. Kula, 1871–1946
A requiem high mass was sung at St. Patrick's Catholic church Saturday morning for Mrs. Joseph Kula, 74, who passed away Wednesday morning. Rev. J. A. McMahon, officiated. Burial was at Holy Cross cemetery. Casket bearers were Paul Holub, Tom Holub, Frank Lawrence, A. C. Kula, Joe Holub, and Lou Yanda.
Frances Elizabeth Lawrence, daughter of Joe Lawrence of Prairieburg was born September 10, 1871. She was married in November 1889 to Joseph Thomas Kula. For eight years the home was made in Buffalo community and they moved to Cass where they lived for 48 years. Mr. Kula passed away in July, 1939. She was also preceded in death by one son, Tom, who died in February 1944.
Surviving are 11 children Louis, Albert, Mrs. Paul Whear, Mrs. Joe Holub, Mrs. Kenneth Butterfield, Frank, Ray, and Bob Kula of Anamosa, Joe of Olin, George Langworthy, and Mrs. Earl Martens of Olin, twenty-nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also surviving in addition to many neighbors and friends.
