Harrison “Harry” Klock Lee, 88, of Olin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, with visitation one hour prior to service.
Harry is survived by his stepchildren, Raymond (Pauline) Neff of Lisbon, Kenneth (Leona) Neff of Wahoo, Neb., and Gayle (Scott) Nave of Flower Mound, Texas; brother, John (Peggy) of Florida; grandchildren, Raymond, Jr., Bradley, Abby, Jessie, Nicole, Kelly and Lindsey; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Carrol and Marjorie (Hundy) Lee, Harry led a varied and interesting life. He joined the United States Air Force upon high school graduation where he served in the Korean War. A man of many talents, Harry owned a gun shop in Arizona, served as a sheriff in Wahoo, Neb., and was an audio technician for the public television station at the University of Nebraska. It was there that he married his wife, Marjorie (Housel) Neff, in October 1968.
Harry and Marge owned a small farm in Ceresco, Neb., before purchasing the Lodge of Whispering Pines in Ely, Minn., in 1978. Upon semi-retirement, the couple lived for a short time in Saginaw, Mich., before returning to Beemer, Neb., to care for aging parents. During this time, Harry professionally drove a truck. In 2006, Harry and Marge moved to Olin to be near family.
Harry was a passionate man who enjoyed motorcycles, traveling and reading. He loved his family, pets, playing cards and music. In 2017, Harry joined other U.S. veterans on an Honor Flight to visit Washington, D.C.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Marge in 2006, and cherished stepdaughter, Lynn Neff Hawthorne in 2001.
