Michael J. Leslie, Sr., 66, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, died Sunday April 29, 2012, at his home. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at Oxford Junction Assembly of God Church in Oxford Junction, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. His body will be cremated. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, Iowa, with military honors. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Services in Oxford Junction is in charge of arrangements.
Michael Jan Leslie was born April 12, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Howard and B. Irene (Kimrey) Leslie. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School and went on to receive an Associate Degree in Horticulture. On June 2, 1973, he was united in marriage to Renda Thomas in Charlotte, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1964 to 1969. He worked at Alcoa as a Mill Operator for twenty years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Oxford Junction Assembly of God Church and American Legion Wapsi Post #473 of Oxford Junction. Michael is survived by his wife. Renda Leslie of Oxford Junction; three children, Heidi (Sean) Beaty and Christopher Michael Leslie of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Michael Jan (Hollie) Leslie, Jr., of Oxford Mills; nine grandchildren; and was expecting his first great-grandchild; two sisters, Beverly (Joe) Rohling of Lost Nation and Sheryl Leslie of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.
