Doris A. Hronik, 89, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, died Monday, August 2, 2010, at Westwing Place in DeWitt, Iowa.
A celebration of her life was held on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction. Friends called on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Burial was in the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, Iowa.
Doris Alice Loitz was born on December 19, 1920 in Elmwood, Iowa, to Alvin and Bernice (Dietz) Loitz. She graduated from Elmwood High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Fred E. Hronik on June 27, 1943 in Elmwood, Iowa. He died on March 29, 1967.
She was a homemaker and had farmed with her husband. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction, where she taught Sunday School, UCLW, and the Order of Eastern Star Peerless Chapter #435 of Oxford Junction. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, sewing, doing ceramics, reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing bingo.
She is survived by her children, Francine (Jerry) Bahnsen of Oxford Junction, Candice Tennison of Centralia, Illinois and Joe (Debra) Hronik of Davenport; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters.
