Ralph Lux

Ralph Lux, age 88, of Center Junction, died Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2009 at the Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 Monday, March 2, 2009 at St. Peters Catholic Church, Temple Hill with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello. Friends called from 3 until 6 Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello and from 9:30 until service time Monday at the church.
Surviving are five children, Jim (Pam) Lux, Michael Lux all of Center Junction, Jean (Ron) Oberbreckling, Wyoming, Danny (Mary) Lux, Bedford, Indiana, Terry (Chris) Lux, Monticello; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister, Catherine (Clifford) Melchert, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Ray a sister Mary Hargrafen, and a grandson Bradley.
Ralph E. Lux was born July 14, 1920 at Hopkinton, Iowa. He was the son of Frank and Gertrude McDonough Lux. He received his education in the Hopkinton Schools. Ralph then started farming with his parents. Ralph E. Lux and Donna Mae Brown were married April 3, 1945 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton. The couple farmed near Hopkinton and in the Anamosa area before they purchased their farm near Center Junction in 1959. The couple also operated a food stand at the Jones County Fair for many years. Donna preceded him in death on April 21, 2006. After Donna's death Ralph made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Ron Oberbreckling in Wyoming, until his health failed and he entered the nursing home in September of 2008. When Ralph wasn't farming, he loved to trap and hunt.
