Sarah L. Lyon Garside

Sarah L. Garside, age 84, of Wyoming, Iowa, died on Monday morning, August 4, 2008, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2008, from the Wyoming Presbyterian Church in Wyoming, Iowa. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church in Wyoming, Iowa. Burial will be in the Wyoming, Iowa Cemetery.
Sarah L. Lyon was born on January 8, 1924 in Jones County, Iowa to Charles E. Lyon and Percie I. (Simmons) Lyon. She married Raymond F. Garside on July 5, 1947 in Sydney, Iowa. He preceded her in death in October 2000.
Sarah had worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, as an inspector in the "white room" for 24 years.
Sarah's hobbies included camping, crocheting, reading, dancing and ceramics. She had been a Girl Scout leader for several years and taught Sunday School in the Wyoming Presbyterian Church.
Sarah is survived by her children, Sherry (Clay) Dosland of Wyoming, and Gary (Sheree) Garside of Iowa City; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Dale Lyon of Little Rock, AK. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Sarah L. Garside Memorial Fund has been established.
