David A. Manning, 59, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, in Davenport, Iowa.
A graveside service and burial celebrating David's life was held at 3 P.M., Tuesday, August 13, 2013, from the Streets Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation was held prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M., on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.
David Allen Manning was born on May 1, 1954 in Fort Houston, Virginia to Clyde, Jr., and Joan (Edwards) Manning. He grew up in Maquoketa and DeWitt and had attended Maquoketa High School.
David had first worked at Clinton Corn Processing, then at Stouffer's and later for Gannon Construction. He then worked for many years with the Oetzel Construction Company, retiring in 2006.
David liked playing baseball in his earlier years. Additionally, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching movies on AMC and TCM, helping his friends and family, and sitting in the garage listening to music with friends just kicking back.
Those left to honor David's memory include his common-law wife and companion of twenty years, Vicki Hulke of Oxford Junction; sons Bryon Manning of Maquoketa and Ryan Manning of DeWitt; his mother, Joan Manning of Maquoketa; two grandchildren; a brother, Terry Manning of Maquoketa, and sister Pam (Tom) Bromley of Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Manning, Jr.
