Albert L. McCloy, 88, of Oxford Junction, Iowa passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A Remembrance service was held at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m., with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in the Wyoming Cemetery.
Albert Laverne McCloy was born on February 11, 1926 in Jackson County, Iowa to William and Bernice (Risden) McCloy. He was united in marriage to Helen "Sue" Anderson on June 22, 1952 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Albert worked at Clinton Engines and farmed till he retired and sold used cars on his farm, outside of Wyoming, Iowa. He loved buying scratch-off Iowa lottery tickets, going to the convenience station and having coffee and visiting with his friends. He enjoyed relaxing outside with his neighbors at the senior housing in Oxford Junction where he has resided since retiring from the farm. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Albert is survived by three children; Douglas (Kathy) McCloy of Wyoming, Iowa, Keith (Janice) McCloy of DeSota, Missouri, and Beth (Jeff) Carstensen of Oxford Junction; seven grandchildren; Nate (Melissa) McClloy of Oxford Junction, Austin Carstensen of Olin, Michelle McCloy of Maquoketa, Christopher McCloy of Monticello, Michael (Kristin) McCloy, Matthew McCloy and Danny McCloy, all of DeSoto, Missouri; brothers Billy McCloy of Baldwin, Allen (Charlotte) McCloy of Monmouth, Larry (Liz) McCloy of Maquoketa, and his sister, Rachel Litty of DeWitt. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sue, brothers Wayne and Melvin, and sisters Betty Edwards and Reta Manning.
