Margaret McElin Quigley
1827–June 3, 1905
Mrs. Margaret Quigley died last Saturday, June 3, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary McNally, in West Cascade. She had been in ill health for several months.
Mrs. Quigley's maiden name was Margaret McElin and she was born in County Meath, Ireland, in 1827. She came to America in 1851, and was married to Michael Quigley, in March, 1852, in New York city, where they resided for six years. Removing to Jones county, near Anamosa, Mr. Quigley engaging in farming, she resided there until 12 years ago when, with her husband she removed to Cascade and made this place her home.
Mrs. Quigley was honored and respected by all who knew her, a consistent Catholic, and devoted wife and mother. Seven children were born to her, six of whom are living: James Quigley, of Anamosa; Mrs. Mary McNally, of Cascade; Mrs. Anna Burns, of Dubuque; Mrs. Julia Carson, of Amber; Mrs. Ellen Foley of Sanborn; Mrs. Elizabeth Doyle, (deceased) of Anamosa.
The funeral was held Monday forenoon at 9 o'clock from St. Martin's church, Rev. L. Roche officiating.
