Gloria Darlene McGuire Lindley
July 9, 1926 – January 27, 2016
Gloria Darlene Lindley, 89, passed away on January 27, 2016 at the Monticello Nursing and Care Center.
A funeral service to honor Gloria’s life was held on Thursday, February 4 at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming at 1:00 P.M. Visitation was from noon to the time of service. Burial was held at the Wyoming Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Senior Center in Wyoming.
Gloria was born on July 9, 1926 in Monticello, Iowa to Owen and Lorna McGuire. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1945. On June 6, 1945 she married Rollo “Bill” Lindley at Sinclair Memorial in Cedar Rapids. She worked a few years at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids.
Gloria was a member of Church Women United, and was active in helping with Meals on Wheels. She helped with Blue Birds, and Cub Scouts. In her younger years, she enjoyed cake decorating and loved flowers. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and some knitting.
Gloria is survived by a daughter, Gloria Ann Capps of Pilot Mound, Iowa, two sons, Kevin (Faith) Lindley of Albany, Illinois and Owen (Kimberly) Lindley of West Hampton, New Jersey; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Lindley, one brother Owen “Buddy” McGuire, a granddaughter Laurel, son-in-law Gary Capps, and her parents.
