| Karl McKeeman, 67, of Ames, passed away May 9, 2018.Karl Reed McKeeman was born May 11, 1950, to Reed and Reva (Schooley) McKeeman in Leon. He graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974.He married Lu Rickert on August 16, 1975, at the LeRoy Presbyterian Church in LeRoy. They moved to Lineville where Karl opened a practice. There they had two wonderful children, Jenny Lynn and Karl Michael. Karl was a loving husband and an amazing father. Later, the family moved to Wyoming where Karl continued to practice veterinary medicine for another twenty years. Karl loved being a husband, a dad, and a vet.He doted on his three grandchildren, Hayden 10, Nora, 4, and Tara 2. On the rare occasion he had free time, he was an avid woodworker and a passionate ISU fan. His family always kept him busy with projects – which he loved. Karl is survived by his wife, Lu McKeeman of Ames; his children Jennifer Lynn (Nathan) Crist and their son, Hayden, of Ankeny, and Karl Michael (Kendall) and their children, Nora and Tara, of Ames; and his sister, Kathryn Cortez of Colorado.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Karolyn Bissonette; and twin grandchildren, Olivia and Amelia McKeeman.Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
