Amalia Henrietta Messner Eichhorn

Funeral services for Amalia Eichhorn were held Wednesday, January 30 in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa. Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Iowa.
Amalia Henrietta, daughter of Joseph and Nettie (Abel) Messner, was born April 29, 1897 at Plainfield, Illinois. She received her education in the schools near her home. At the age of 13 she moved with her family to Moccasin, Montana. On February 12, 1920 she married Henry Eichhorn at Moccasin, Montana. The couple had one daughter. They moved to Wyoming, Iowa. In 1933 the family moved to Anamosa where Henry became the Jones County Sheriff. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Anamosa and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Amalia died Sunday January 27 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. Preceding her in death was her husband, a grandson Stevan Owen, a son-in-law, Evan Owen and 2 sisters, Alice Eichhorn and Laura Oster.
Surviving are her daughter, Molly Owen of Postville, Iowa, a granddaughter Mary Chris Abicht of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, 4 great-grandsons, and several nephews.
