Once of Hopkinton Dies at Age 59

Funeral services were held at Monticello Sunday for E. J. Miller, a former Hopkinton resident, who passed away Friday at the home of his daughter. Rev. McCauley of the Methodist Episcopal church was in charge of the services. Interment was made at the Hopkinton cemetery. Edward J. Miller was born at Garryowen, Iowa in 1877. In 1905 he was united in marriage to Miss Etta Jones of Sand Spring. Five children were born to this union. Two of the five passed away in December 1916. They were followed in death by their mother in May, 1922. His second marriage was to Mrs. Laura Vesey in January, 1934. Mr. Miller had been in ill health for the past two years, but his condition became (more?) serious two months ago. Death came to him early Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Behrends, at Monticello. His widow and three children survive himMrs. Wm. Behrends of Monticello, Elmer and Edward of Oxford Junction. Two sisters, Mrs. S. B. Lowe of Hopkinton, and Mrs. Julia Bower of Santa Monica, Calif., and three brothers—Bert of Quasqueton, Emmett of Cascade, and Vincent of Hopkinton also survive him. Mr. Miller was an industrious and upright citizen and as such will be missed by a host of friends.
