Carl Wilbur Morning

Services for Carl W. Morning, 87, were held January 22 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Monticello, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Duane Ferguson officiated at the services.
Carl Morning of Monticello died January 19 at his residence following an extended illness.
Carl Wilbur Morning was born December 31, 1902 at Lebanon, Missouri, the son of Gerdon and Bertha (Farrington) Morning. He received his education near Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He then went to work on the railroad in the Sioux Rapids area. He later worked on a farm in the Anamosa area. He married Mary L. Postel, January 18, 1927. The couple made their home in Monticello. Carl was employed at Franklin Equipment forty-six years, where he retired as shipping manager in 1973.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stanley of Minocqua, Wisconsin, Carl O. of Cedar Rapids and John of Iowa City; four daughters, Elizabeth DeWoody of Anamosa, Carleta Herzberger of Toddville, JoAnne McBain of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Sonya Rice of Stillman Valley, Illinois; a brother, Roy of Anamosa; thirty-six grandchildren and fifty-three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Honorary bearers were William McBain Jr., and Michael McBain. Casket bearers were Richard Warner, David Herzberger, Denton Herzberger, Devin Herzberger, Hal Rice Jr., and John C. Morning.
Goettsch's Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the arrangements.
