Thomas Murray
1810–February 28, 1888
Died——at his residence in Hale township Tuesday morning, February 28, 1888, Thomas Murray, in his 78th year.

Thomas Murray was born in Roscommon county, Ireland, in the year 1810. In 1847 he emigrated to this country, settling in Philadelphia. He came to Iowa in 1861 and settled in this place, remaining here about two years when he moved onto the farm in Hale township which he occupied up to the time of his death. He was a stone mason by trade, a man of large stature, and in his years of labor untiring and industrious. He laid the foundation of many of the older buildings in this place and vicinity, and was accounted an honest able workman and his services much sought after. He has been unable for many years to perform much hard work, but has up to a year or so overseen his farm. He leaves a widow, five sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. The funeral was held last Thursday, the remains being taken to Toronto for interment. The Rev. Father Francis of Cedar Rapids was the officiating clergyman. l,
