David Edward Odeen

David Odeen died peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the age of 80.
A visitation was held on Friday evening, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., May 17, 2019, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where military honors were accorded at 7 p.m.
Surviving is his wife, Deloris; five children, Deborah (Darrin) Thompson, Doreen (Larry) Huwe, Darlene Odeen, Ellen (John) Fisher and Daniel Odeen; his siblings, Harold (Gerry) Odeen, Harry (Linda) Odeen, Susie (Marcel) Sebetka, Jeannie Brislawn and Cathie Odeen; eight stepchildren, Dennis, Curtis, Dean, Linda, Don Jr., Doug, Dave and Dennis; and many step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Cameron; and wife, Edna, in 2009.
David Edward Odeen was born March 18, 1939, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. He was the son of Harry and Marian (Raymond) Odeen. He received his education in the Marion schools. David then enlisted in the United States Navy serving for ten years. He returned home to Iowa making his home in Anamosa. He worked at Collins Radio and later at a TV shop in Mount Vernon. On June 5, 1998, Edna and David Odeen were united in marriage at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Anamosa. He started Odeen's Radio TV in Mount Vernon and operated his store for a number of years before becoming the TV technician at Smulekoffs in Cedar Rapids. He retired from there in 2000.
David married Deloris Smith Michel at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Anamosa, in 2011.
David was a member of St. Mark’s Church and the Anamosa American Legion. He enjoyed playing his bass guitar, going fishing, gardening and spending his winters in Mission, Texas.
