Donald Dean Peck, 85, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Columbine Care Center West in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, with Pastor Pat Slater officiating.
Friends called from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. A Masonic Service was held at 6 p.m. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa.
Donald Dean Peck was born on September 21, 1922 in Mechanicsville, Iowa, son of Ernest Peck and Hertha Willamena (Jurgenson) Peck. After graduating from Olin High School in Olin, Iowa, Donald joined the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. After being discharged, he returned to Iowa in October of 1946, and was united in marriage to Carol Swenson.
He worked for APCO Oil Corporation as an Iowa District Sales Manager, retiring in 1974. He later owned and operated Casey’s General Stores in Albia, Iowa, and Troy, Missouri.
Donald was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, and after moving to Colorado, the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Peck and one daughter, Holly Pierce, both of Fort Collins; two sons, Joel (Toni) Peck, of St. Charles, Ill, and Kurt (Julia) Peck, of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Valerie (Sam) Hartmen, Natalie (Robert) Button, Travis Peck, Joy (Derek) Decker, Matthew Pierce and Laura Sue Pierce; four great-grandchildren, Gaberiel, Madilyn and Jacob Hartmen and Pierce Decker; and one sister, Betty Petersen, of Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Keith.
