|Henry W. Petersen, 92, of Wyoming, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa.
A celebration of his life was held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Iowa. Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming.
Memorials are preferred.
Henry William Petersen was born on February 5, 1916 in Nora Springs, Iowa, son of Herman William and Katrina Christina (Henningson) Petersen. He attended school in Wyoming, Iowa. He married Lelia Marie Kaufman on October 10, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa. She died on March 7, 1995.
Henry was a farmer. He was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy (Robert) Hodgson of Dixon, Illinois; 5 sons, David (Jackie) Petersen of Pasadena, Texas, Joe Petersen of Harpers Ferry, Dan Petersen of Manchester, Eric Petersen of Monticello, and Paul Petersen of Pocatello, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Fields of Delmar.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister, Marie Harding and one brother, Martin Petersen.
