Sheila Rae Ronek, 43, of Olin, Iowa died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Family and friends called on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Burial will be in Olin Cemetery at a later date.
Sheila was born July 8, 1970 in Iowa City, Iowa to Linda Lou Petersen and Becky Sue Swyers. She attended Olin Community School. On September 1, 2002 she was united in marriage to Mitchell James Ronek of Anamosa.
Sheila has lived the majority of her life in Olin where she has been very involved with the Fire Department for the past five years. She has been the secretary for three years, helped with the Junior Firefighter programs, worked on grants for the fire department to get new gear and trucks and coordinated training sessions. She is Firefighter I and Hazmet certified, along with Jaws of Life, and was currently working on her Firefighter II certification. Sheila was also a Junior Auxiliary member.
Sheila is survived by her mom Becky Swyers of Olin, grandmother Betty Swyers of Marion, husband, Mitchell Ronek of Anamosa; four children: Ashley Petersen of Olin, Lauren Power of Olin, Chad (Kristen Mork) Kryger of Cedar Rapids, James (Sarah) Kryger of Anamosa; two grandchildren: Noah and Isaac Kryger; two brothers: Jeffrey (Linda) Petersen of Olin, Steven (Ellen) Swyers of Bennett; special nieces and nephews: Marvel Grey, Van Halen and Kennedy Rae-Lynn Petersen. Sheila also has a special place in her heart for all the kids who relied on and loved her like a mother.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mom Linda Lou Petersen, and her uncle Tony Petersen.
