Thomas "Tom" Petersen
May 27, 1957–February 4, 2014
Thomas "Tom" Petersen, 56, went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2014 after suffering complications from a brain tumor.
Tom was born on May 27, 1957 in Anamosa, Iowa to Elmer "Tug" Petersen and Betty (Peck) Petersen. Tom graduated with the Midland Class of 1975. He attended Waldorf College in Forest City for two years and graduated from West Mar College in Le Mars with a teaching certificate in Industrial Arts. Tom taught school in Minnesota and Iowa, later moving to Texas. He married Lynda Miller (Hopkins) in June of 1995.
Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife of eighteen years, Lynda Petersen; one son, Blake Hopkins and wife Kim; one daughter, Jessica Brost and husband Matt; three grandchildren, Camy Hopkins, Layla Brost and Isabelle Brost; his mother, Betty Petersen of Wyoming, three sisters Judy Yockey, Jane Kail, and Nancy (Scott) Collins of Wyoming; as well as two nephews Chris Yockey and wife Amy, and Adam Collins; a great nephew, Nathan Yockey; and a great niece, Hannah Yockey.
He was preceded in death by his father Elmer "Tug" Petersen, brothers-in-law, Gary Yockey, and Konrad Kail, and a nephew, Terry Yockey.
Tom was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, "gramps," friend and believer who lived his "Dash" well.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 5 PM at The Community at Lake Ridge, 1151 Mansfield Webb, Arlington, Texas.
