Shirley Mae Pleasant Conner
October 30, 1932–September 30, 2011
Shirley Mae Conner, age 78, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2011 at home in Oxford Junction, Iowa.
Shirley was born October 30, 1932 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Ralph and Beryl (Starr) Pleasant. She was a graduate of Davenport High School and received her Associates Degree from Scott Community College.
She worked as an Interior Decorator with Henry Hartz and Austin Crabbs furniture store, displaying her wonderful knack for solving the issue of making a room or home complete. Shirley truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with family and friends, gardening and cooking. She enjoyed traveling in her convertible with the wind in her hair, and let's not forget her passion for the water and beach. Shirley had a natural ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
She is honored in memory by her children, Daniel P. and spouse Denise Bennett, Silvis, Illinois, and Sheila K. Schell, Davenport; grandchildren, Hope L. Jones, Iowa City, Justin P. and Trevor D. Bennett, Quad Cities, Riley O. Bennett, O'Fallon, Illinois; loving great-grandchildren, Najha and Nasan, Alyssa and Shana, and Hunter and Kyler.
Shirley is survived by a sister, Pauline Dehle, Alexis, Illinois, and brother, Alfred and Spouse Rose Pleasant, Davenport; many special nieces and nephews; and her lifelong and beloved friend Jan (Terril) Smead.
Family, friends and others whose lives Shirley touched are invited to the Quad-City Prayer Center, 1411 Brady Street, Davenport, Saturday, October 8 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to reminisce, grieve, and support each other.
