Funeral Services Held On Saturday, November 12th

Lemuel Postel, 82, died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, Thursday, November 10, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 12, at 2 p.m. in the Goettsch funeral home.
Rev. J. I. Patnode, brother-in-law of the deceased, officiated. Burial was in the Hazel Knoll cemetery near Viola.

Honorary casketbearers, included Harold Postel, Kenneth Postel, Ronald Postel, Karen Heiken, Stanley Morning, James Tarbox, John Morning. Acting casketbearers included Robert Postel, Lyman Postel, Jr., George Postel, Curtis Postel, Russell Postel and Terry Pospishil.
Mr. Postel was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio, December 28, 1873, the son of James and Martha Ann Postel. He was united in marriage with Louisa Ann Patnode, January 24, 1898. He came to Iowa in 1895 and was a resident of Jones county and Anamosa since.

Survivors Listed
Survivors include five sons; James, Olin; Merle, Monticello; Lyman and Robert, Central City; Edward, Dubuque; six daughters, Mrs. Ed (Florence) Pospishil, Central City; Mrs. Andrew (Marguerite) Tobiason, Anamosa; Mrs. Ray (Edna) Tarbox, Olin; Mrs. Carl (Mary) Morning, Monticello; Mrs. Rex (Gladys) Heiken, Anamosa; Mrs. Charles (Gertrude) Arthur, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Other survivors include: forty-nine grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Bowning, Detroit, Michigan; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in March, 1952, and one son, Lloyd, who died in infancy.
