Elsie May Ruppert Becker

Elsie M. Becker, 90, of Olin, Iowa, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at her home.
A Celebration of her Life service was held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, where friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, Iowa.
Elsie May Ruppert was born May 5, 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa to George L. Jr. and Elsie M. (Hertz) Ruppert. She attended school in Iowa City. She married Forrest D. Becker on March 16, 1944 at First English Lutheran Church in Iowa City, Iowa. He died on February 28, 2005.
Elsie was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the farm and raised a lot of geese.
She was a very active member of the Olin United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Olin Westside Club and liked gardening and canning.
She is survived by three children, Helen (Gary) Skinner of Clarence, Richard (Nancy) Becky of Mt. Vernon and Chuck (Cindy) Becker of Anamosa; three granddaughters, Jeanett (Brad) Torrens of Hertford, North Carolina, Chris (Mike) Riter of Norwalk, Iowa, and Tammy (Eric) Nehring of Mechanicsville; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; two brothers, George Ruppert and Robert (Della) Ruppert of Iowa City; and a brother-in-law, Luke Braxmeier of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one sister, Sarah.
