Audrey Schrader Chatterton
October 8, 1929–November 13, 2011
Audrey Chatterton, age 82, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Friday morning, November 18, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Wyoming Cemetery. Rev. Reed Stockman officiated at the services. Friends called from 4 to 8 on Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Surviving are two children, Karen (Larry) Porath, Emmetsburg, Dale (Kaye) Chatterton, Onslow; a son-in-law, Guy Petersen, Wyoming; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Boyd on May 15, 2011; a daughter Laurie Petersen; and a brother Donald Schrader.
Audrey Schrader was born October 8, 1929 at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of August and Irene (Norris) Schrader. She received her early education at the Scotch Grove Township School #8. Audrey completed her education in the Monticello Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1947. Audrey attended nursing school in Iowa City and received her L. P. N. Audrey Schrader and Boyd Chatterton were married September 19, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Audrey and Boyd farmed near Onslow, Center Junction, and Martelle before returning to the Onslow area to stay in 1954. Audrey was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a church organist for forty-one years and also served on the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed all aspects of farm and family life, her cats and chickens, gardening and growing flowers, entering things in the county fairs, and her family, especially her grandchildren.
