Widow of Russell Jamieson
Luella Jamieson, age 88, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Center Junction, died Friday afternoon, peacefully passing to a greater life surrounded by her loving daughters on October 17, 2008.
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon, October 20, 2008 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where friends called from after 12 noon, Monday. Rev. Al Polito officiated at the services. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Jane (Tom) Yock, Palo, Jan (Mike) Cooper, North Liberty, Jill Jamieson, Cedar Rapids, her grandchildren Monica (Brian) Congdon, Kevin (Karen Ommen) Yock, Amy (Danny) Chupp, Beth (Jennon) Caruth, Libby (Mike) Sturgill and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Luella Seehusen was born September 29, 1920 at Center Junction, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Anna (Behrends) Seehusen. Luella graduated from the Center Junction High School and continued her education at the Cedar Rapids Business College.
Luella Seehusen and Russell Jamieson were married September 7, 1945 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. The couple made their home in the Center Junction area. Russell worked as a hog buyer for Oscar Mayer and Luella operated the Rusty Café and Sweet Shop. Russell died on October 26, 1966. Luella later worked at the Onslow Savings Bank and at Grays Lumber Yard in Center Junction and Olin. She moved to Marion, Iowa in 1996. Luella enjoyed big band music, listening to Leo Greco on Sunday morning, dancing, playing bridge and golf, and her family.
