Edwin Carl Sievers

Services for Edwin Sievers, 80, Monday, January 9, 1995 were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa with burial at the Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Honors by the Anamosa Veterans. Rev. Richard Ament officiated at the services.
Edwin C. Sievers of rural Anamosa died Friday, January 6, 1995 at the Grandview Nursing Home in Oelwein.
Edwin Carl Sievers was born May 23, 1914, near Tipton, Cedar County, the son of Henry Sievers and Elizabeth (Young) Sievers. He attended school in Martelle. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, serving in the Southern Philippines campaign and in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operations.
Edwin Sievers and Edna Bickford were married May 28, 1938 in Anamosa. They had one son, Gerald A. Sievers, who preceded them in death on August 28, 1973.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Todd A. Sievers and his wife Linda of Anamosa, Rick O. Sievers and friend Marlea Janowski of Anamosa, Angela Marie Ellison of Marion, a daughter-in-law, Judy Wood of Anamosa, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, John Sievers of Anamosa and Gene Sievers and a sister, Leone Hurt, both of Cedar Rapids, and nieces and nephews.
For many years he operated Sievers Farm Supply in Anamosa. He was preceded in death by his son, and his wife Edna, on February 14, 1975, and his parents.
