James Otis Siver
December 14, 1891–February 22, 1987
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon Feb. 24 1987 at the Christian Church in Martelle for James Otis Siver, 95. The Rev. Steve Pike officiated. Interment was in the White Oak cemetery near Morley. Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were David Siver, Howard Siver, James Siver, Thomas Siver, W. Vernon Taylor and Steven Becker.
Mr. Siver died early Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
James Otis Siver was born Dec. 14, 1891 in Jones County, the son of Allen J. and Cora E. Manly Siver. He received his education in the Greenfield Township schools and later attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon. He married Fern Lucinda Tallman on Jan. 21,1915 at the Tallman Home in Greenfield Township. The couple farmed in the White Oak area their entire married life and were very active in church and community affairs. Mrs. Siver died in 1962.
Mr. Siver is survived by two sons, Glenn of Anamosa and Floyd of Mechanicsville, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two grandchildren.
