Arnold Sobotka

Arnold Sobotka, 98, of Oxford Junction died on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence. A funeral mass was held on March 10 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Friends called on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction and one hour before mass on Monday at the Church. Burial was in the Mayflower Cemetery at Oxford Junction.
Arnold Sobotka was born on May 22, 1915, son of John and Anna (Stratilek) Sobotka. He graduated from the Oxford Junction High School, and married Irene (Bicknese) Dobling in 1959 in Lost Nation, Iowa, and Irene died on June 25, 2008. Arnold owned and operated the Sobotka Insurance Agency in Oxford Junction for many years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Arnold liked dancing, listening to music, water sports, hunting and gardening and being outdoors.
He is survived by two step children: Robert (Susan) Dobling of Springville, and Barb Dobling of Oxford Junction; five step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and two sisters; a step son Rich Dobling and step daughter Arlette.
