Dorothy Helen Stolte Kuchel

Dorothy Kuchel, 95, of Tipton passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton.
Her Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood where a visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial was at Olin Cemetery in Olin, Iowa. Following Dorothy’s burial in Olin, a luncheon was served at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the lower level of the church.
Dorothy Helen (Stolte) Kuchel was born on March 27, 1921 near Tipton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Hugo and Sophie (Seiling) Stolte. Dorothy received her education in the Tipton school system. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and was confirmed June 2, 1935 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood, Iowa.
Dorothy and Burness Orlen Kuchel were married in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bennett, Iowa on December 9, 1942. They farmed for many years in the Tipton and Morley communities before retiring to a home in Mechanicville. In recent years, Dorothy was a resident of Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center in Tipton.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter Karen Kay Postel and her husband Lynn; and two grandsons, Lawrence Postel of Fort Worth, Texas and Andrew Postel of Hardy, Virginia. She is also survived by a sister Esther Henricksen, Bennett, Iowa. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, two brothers and two grandsons.
