Mary Ann Stowers Wherry

Mary Ann Wherry, 84, of Oxford Junction, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa.
Her Funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Friends and family called on Thursday, November 13 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., with scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Burial was in the Mayflower Cemetery.
Mary Ann was born on April 24, 1930 to Joseph and Mary (Quirk) Stowers in Oxford Junction. She was united in marriage on January 19, 1950 to Richard Wherry in Cedar Rapids. In her early years she worked as a nurse at St. Luke's, then for Clinton Engines and Sears, where she retired after twenty-eight years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Guild, and the Legion Auxiliary in Oxford Junction. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Richard, and children Jackie (Rodney Bartlet) Wherry of Indianapolis, Indiana and Gordon (Sandra) Wherry of Anamosa; her grandchildren: Angela Strait and Ryan Wherry; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her granddaughter, Nicole in 1977.
