Bonita Louise Streeper Petersen

Bonnie Petersen, 82, of Martelle, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon. Per her request, there will be no services. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, is caring for Bonnie and her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Darwin) Koutny and Teresa (Brent) Haddad; grandchildren, Amy, Shawn, Jill, Joseph, Elizabeth, Travis, Traelei, Aaron, Audra and Devon; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings, Sharon, Jerry, Steve, Dick, Linda, Susan, Lois and Sue; special friend, Lori Shelton; many nieces and nephews; several extended family members; and the friends and staff at Cherry Ridge Assisted Living in Mount Vernon.
Bonita Louise Streeper was born May 21, 1937, in Monticello to Elmer and Esther (Brokaw) Streeper. She met Richard Petersen, and they were married August 4, 1954, while she was attending Amber Country School. She graduated in 1955. She worked for Martelle School as a cook for many years. Bonnie enjoyed doing crosswords, going to garage sales and crocheting. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Bonnie was a determined, fierce and strong-willed woman who was respected by many and who was a wonderful woman to be around. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; son, Rodney; daughter, Renee; brother, Bob; and sister, Judy.
Bonnie’s family would like to thank her niece, Jennifer, and the staff at Hallmark for their generous care during Bonnie’s illness.
