Barbara Jane Tasker Saunders
March 31, 1930 – August 22, 2015
Barbara J. Saunders, 85, of Wyoming passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at her home in Central City.
Her graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cady Cemetery. The family has honored her wishes of cremation. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Services of Wyoming is assisting the family with their services.
Barbara Jane was born on March 31, 1930 in Anamosa, Iowa to Robert and Elizabeth (Sutton) Tasker. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1947. On July 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to Paul W. Saunders in Anamosa, Iowa. Barbara was a telephone operator, worked at the Anamosa Shirt Factory, was a secretary at the school for ten years, worked at Holly’s Town Super Market for ten years and then worked at Wal-Mart until retirement.
She was a board member of the Wyoming Historical Museum. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking and listening to music. She made the best homemade candy and was great at decorating cakes. Barbara had a passion for taking pictures and for cooking Sunday dinners. She lived for her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories are her four children; Robin (Walter) Buckallew of Cedar Rapids, Rebecca (Michael) Morris of Butte, Montana, Rochelle (Noble) Sweeting of Cedar Rapids, Roland “Shawn” (Tracy) Saunders of Central City; four grandchildren: Jamie (Laura) Smith, Bryce Buckallew, Regan and McKennan Saunders; and one great-grandson Brendan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother James Tasker.
