Margaret Joyce Taylor Lyon

Margaret Joyce Lyon, 85, of Olin, died Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Crestview Acres in Marion, Iowa, from Alzheimer's Disease.
A celebration of her life was held on Wednesday, February, 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin.
Margaret Joyce Lyon was born November 13, 1923 in Olin, Iowa, to Harry Wilbur and Etta (Stivers) Taylor. Joyce graduated from Olin High School and attended business college in Cedar Rapids. She married Merlin K. Lyon on June 21, 1942 and lived on the family farm southeast of Olin. In her later years, Joyce also worked for Farm Service in Anamosa for 19 years.
Joyce was an active member of the Olin Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and being with her friends and family. Joyce and her husband loved dancing to the "big bands" and very much valued their "500 card club" friendships. Joyce was known as a hard worker who generously gave of her time and energy and was always there whenever her neighbors, family and friends were in need.
She is survived by three children, Karla (Dick) Nielsen of Tampa, Florida, Scott (Kathy) Lyon of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Steve (Arlene) Lyon of Olin, Iowa; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin K. on October 20,1990, her parents, three brothers, Keith Taylor, Clyde Taylor and Clifford Taylor and her cousin and best friend Jim Ramsey.
