Donald E. Van Vliete

Donald E. Van Vliete, 78, of Anamosa, formerly of Wyoming, died Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A celebration of his life was held on Friday, January 14, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, where friends called from 9:30 until the service time. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Services in Wyoming was in charge of arrangements.
Donald was born June 20, 1932, in Jesup, Iowa, the son of James Arthur Van Vliete and Edith (Mastain) Van Vliete.
Don had worked in the stock market in New York and Chicago, and then was a custodian at Monticello Schools, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, where he was very involved.
He is survived by one sister, Marian Elliott of Hiawatha, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings at birth.
