James "Jim" Douglas Vrooman, 71, of Olin, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Olin Community United Methodist Church in Olin, Iowa. Friends and family called from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Olin Community United Methodist Church on Monday. Burial was at Olin Cemetery with Military Honors.
James was born on June 25, 1942 in Anamosa, Iowa to parents, Dee and Ellen (McCormick) Vrooman. He was united in marriage on December 2, 2000 to Regina (Wink) Ehlts at Saint Paul's Methodist Church in Olin, Iowa. He served in the United States Air Force as a dispatcher. He worked as a truck driver. James enjoyed woodworking, golfing and riding his motorcycle. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and playing cards and visit with friends.
James is survived by his wife, Regina, his son, Marc Vrooman of Shreveport, Louisiana, a step-daughter, Jamie Behnke and Lawrence Behnke of Anamosa, a step-son, Jeremy (Tiffany) Wink of Stanwood, granddaughter, Matea Behnke of Anamosa, grandson, Braden Wink of Stanwood, step-granddaughters, Taylor Brown of Stanwood, and his brother, Kerry (Mary) Vrooman of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, John and Roger.
