Leona May Wallruff Bickford
March 7, 1930–November 22, 1990
Funeral services for Leona May Bickford, 60, were held November 24 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Anamosa, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Gaul officiated at the services.
Leona May Bickford died November 22 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.
Leona May Wallroff was born March 7, 1930 at Cascade, the daughter of Eugene and Mae (Potter) Wallroff. She received her education in the Onslow area schools.
Leona May Wallroff and LeRoy Bickford were married August 14, 1946 at Anamosa. The couple made their home in the Anamosa and Prairieburg area. The couple operated a garage and service station from 1955 to 1970. In 1970 they sold their garage and began operating resorts and gift shops in northern Minnesota in the summer and spent winters in the Anamosa area. In 1988 Mae went to work at the LeFebure Company in Anamosa.
Mrs. Bickford is survived by her husband; three daughters, Susan Bolton of Jesup, Mary Hanson of Abercrombie, North Dakota and Wendy Bickford of Moorhead, Minnesota, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Edna Heister of Bernard, Betty Clark of Rogers, Arkansas; two brothers, Gene Wallroff of Grand Junction, Colorado and Albert Wallroff of Maquoketa. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
