Ronald Wray Warthen

Ronald W. Warthen, 78, died Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Anamosa Care Center, following a brief illness.
A memorial visitation was held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Military Honors were accorded at 7 p.m.
Surviving is his wife, Marlyn; a daughter, Michelle Moyer; five sisters, Janet (Dick) Lynott, Judy (Dale) Walker, Jean (Keith) Schlemmer, Janice (Bob) Richmond and Jerri (Ernie) Osterkamp; three brothers, Dewayne (Pam), Allan and Steve and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Joanne, Joyce and Joy.
Ronald Wray Warthen was born September 24, 1940, in Ontario, Oregon. He was the son of Wray and Gladys (Allen) Warthen. He graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1959. He would later attend Kirkwood College.
Ron served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He returned back to Anamosa after his military duty and married Marlyn Wright on March 31, 1967, in Anamosa. Ron worked at Allis Chalmers and Harnesfager in Cedar Rapids. He later worked as a truck driver for Lou Somerville and Don Hummer. Ron also ran a livestock hauling business for area farmers and ran the lunch stand at the Anamosa Sale Barn for many years. He retired from his livestock hauling business in 2017.
