Helma Elsie Weirup Herren

Helma E. Herren, 87, of Onslow, Iowa, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, Iowa.
Funeral services to celebrate her life were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Onslow. Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial was in Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
Helma Elsie Weirup was born on April 12, 1924 at home in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Peter Boysen and Elsie (Weede) Weirup. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1942. On June 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Paul Dean Herren in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Helma was a homemaker and farmed with her husband at Onslow for over sixty years. She had also worked at Ben Franklin, Morning Glory Bakery, and the Fish-n-Tackle in Maquoketa.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Onslow, and its Church Guild, Happy Homemakers, and American Legion Post 259 Women's Auxiliary.
Helma is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Paul Herren of Onslow; one son, Ron (Dorie) Herren of Friday Harbor, Washington; one daughter, Carole Paschedag of Onslow; seven grandchildren, Zachary Aldeman of Davenport, Jake Herren and Alex Herren, both of Friday Harbor, Washington, Sarah Herren of Pleasanton, California, Jackie Herren (Brian Walters) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lindsey Aldeman of Cedar Rapids, and Rachel Aldeman of Oxford Junction; three great-grandchildren, Devin Aldeman, Estephen Briones, and Eden Chisholm; and one brother, Arnie Weirup of Maquoketa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Orvilla Lorraine, and a son-in-law William Aldeman.
