Goldie Evelyn Winchip Benischek

Goldie E. Benischek, 91, of Olin, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, with Pastor Carol Mart officiating. Burial will be at Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin.
Goldie Evelyn Winchip was born August 9, 1918, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Parley and Frances (Mackey) Winchip. She graduated from Olin High School in 1937. She married Richard Benischek in November of 1938. He died on August 28, 1991.
Goldie was a homemaker. She farmed with her husband and operated Benny's Hardware in Olin.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Olin. In earlier years, she was active with Olin Eastern Star and belonged to several card clubs. Goldie loved to spend her summers at her cabin in Leech Lake, Minnesota, and loved to play bingo.
She is survived by her children, Roger (Bonnie) Benischek of New Orleans, LA, Marcia (Richard) Kleppe of Clarence and Greg Benischek of Olin; and six grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother.
