Opal Maxine Wink Brink-Knapp

Opal Maxine Brink-Knapp, 94, of Marion, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Rev. Jim May officiated. Burial was in Hazel Knoll Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at the funeral home.
Opal Maxine Wink was born May 12, 1924, in Anamosa, the daughter of Arthur and Aletha (Covington) Wink. She married Marvin Brink on September 13, 1940, at the United Methodist Church, Anamosa. Together they owned and operated their own farm in the Martelle area and later near Matsell Bridge in Linn County. They retired in 1980. During this time, she also worked as a cook at the Anamosa Hospital and later at the Monticello Care Center. Marvin died in 2007. On October 26, 2008, she married Earl Myron Knapp in Troy Mills, and they farmed near Troy Mills. The couple moved to Marion in 2011. Earl died in 2012.
She enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, dancing and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren. She was well known for her famous egg noodles. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas season.
She is remembered by her children, Jim Brink, Anamosa, Gene (Linda) Brink, Anamosa, Duaine (Kathy) Brink, Rochester, Minnesota, Pam (Dewayne) Warthen, Martelle and Doug Brink, Anamosa; seventeen grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Wink.
