| Phyllis R. Edwards, 85, of Monmouth, Iowa, passed away on Sunday morning, October 29, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.Phyllis Regina Yarolem was born on December 2, 1931, in Canton, Iowa, to Charles and Blanche (Bickford) Yarolem. She attended school in Canton and later in Onslow. She married Arley Dale Edwards on August 11, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1972.Phyllis had worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. She then worked for Formfit in Monmouth, Illinois making garments for several years. Lastly, she worked for over fifteen years for Servus Rubber in Rock Island, Illinois on the assembly line and in the shipping department. Upon her husband’s death she moved to Maquoketa in 1972 and then to Monmouth in 1973.Phyllis enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her family. She liked playing cards, fishing, camping, puzzle books and watching NASCAR with Carl Edwards being her favorite driver.Those left to honor her memory include her children, John “J.C.” (Jean) Martensen of Welton, Iowa, Ellen (James) Wadsworth of Eldridge, Missouri, Dale (Lonna) Edwards of Rock Island, Illinois, Arla (James) Clark of Wyoming, Iowa, and Arley “Bryan” (Christine) Edwards of Milan, Illinois; a step-daughter, Laurie (Michael) Lemmer of Cascade, Iowa; a sister Marlene Kaye (Robert) Hess of Eldon, Missouri; a brother, Jerry (Janice) Yarolem of Maquoket, Iowa; sister-in-law, Beverly Yarolem of Monmouth, Iowa, and Marlene Yarolem of Baldwin, Iowa; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arley Dale Edwards, a daughter Wendy Passig, three great-grandchildren Lexi Edwards, Braxton Maher and Manixx Maher, five brothers Charles Jr., Kenny, Rex, Wayne and Bob Yarolem, three sisters Marietta Graves, Jane Holland and one infant sister and a special friend of over thirty years Robert Benischek.
