Carmen Vey Zaruba Brown
December 29, 1922–June 13, 2014
Carmen V. Brown, 91, of Anamosa, Iowa and formerly of Olin, Iowa passed away on Friday, June 13th, 2014 at Silvercrest in Anamosa.
Services were held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the Church.
Carmen Vey Zaruba was born on December 29, 1922 in Hale, Iowa to parents, Frank and Esther (Nissen) Zaruba. She graduated from Olin Consolidated School and Cedar Rapids Paris Academy. She was united in marriage to Glenn Brown on July 24, 1949 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Olin.
Carmen was a hairdresser for ten years and had worked with her husband on the farm for many years. She enjoyed needlework and golf.
She was a member of the Anamosa First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa, Bridge Club, a 60+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star Peerless Chapter 435 of Oxford Junction, Iowa and the Bowknot Social Club.
She is survived by two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and a brother Donald.
