Abt 1867 Union soldiers were exhumed and moved to nearby national cemeteries. Many if not most headboards were vandalized or no longer legible. These soldiers were marked as unknowns. Alexander is probably among the unknowns at Jefferson City National Cemetery. His mother, Jane Johnson, applied for his pension Nov 2 1867. Mentions that he had alias of Alexander Laskey. He is also mentioned in an Anamosa Eureka article by Lawrence Schoonover on page 2, February 28, 1862, recounting his burial at Sedalia, Missouri with full military honors after he had died from the measles.
