I stayed all night with Lue Butler Sunday, January 5th I was at SS to day - I came home in the after noon & went back to meeting in the evening Monday, January 6th I was up to Frozen Hill in the after noon Tuesday, January 7th I was at Clay Mills all day Wednesday, January 8th I was up to Frozen Hill to School & at D Beans & at Gene Hills birthday party Thursday, January 9th & Friday, January 10th I was at Charleys all day Saturday, January 11th I went up to Jim Halls & got $5,50 from him I went down to Beans & went to Onslow with him I got a pair of over shoes $1,25 gloves 75 cts - I was at John Orrs to supper I stayed all night at Tom Greens Sunday, January 12th Toms folks & me came to Charleys I went up to meeting I stayed all night with Jo Orr Monday, January 13th I was at Onslow with Jo came back & him & me went to John Supple to a dance came back & went to Leggetts to an Oyster Supper Tuesday, January 14th I was at Charleys Wednesday, January 15th I sawed slabs for Bart in the fore noon it is a snowing to day Thursday, January 16th At Charleys a good meny logs hauled in at the mill - It is a raining I stayed all night at Mr Wilkinsons Sunday, May 4th I came over to John Garretts we started for the West we came thru Onslow & Anamosa & Stone City & Marion - we stayed all night - went to Cedar Rapids in the morning stayed thare all day took the train for the West at 5 o'clock - started for rail roading - stations (Fairfax, Norway, Watkins 20 miles, Lu Serns, Bell Plane, Chelsea, Tama, Montour, Le Grand, Qurry, Marshelltown, Lamollie, State Center, Colo, Nevada, Ames, Ontario, Midway, Boon, Moingona, Ogden, Beaver, Grand Jct & New Jefferson, Coon Siding, Scranton, Glidden, Carroll, Capple, Bire Jct, Arcada, West Side, Vale, Dennison, Dowwill, Dunlop, Woodbine, Logan, Mo Valley Jct. Tuesday, May 6th Boon this A. M. took breakfast traveled all day got to Mo Valley tonight stayed all night at the hotel - no supper Wednesday, May 7th We laid in Mo Valley Jct all day stayed all night at the Commerceal Hotel. Thursday, May 8th We left Mo Valley Jct 12 o'clock got to the river stayed thare about 3 hours - NEB got to Blair in the after noon Kenard, Bell Crick, Freeman, Nickerson, Hooper, Wisner - Stayed all night at the Wisner House lodging and breakfast Friday, May 9th Stayed all day commenced to board at noon $3,00 per week lodging & 2 meals Saturday, May 10th At the gun work in the after noon Sunday, May 11th I was around town all day Monday, May 12th I was a rail roading to day Tuesday, May 13th Rail roading 1/2 day - rain in P.M. Wednesday, May 14th I started from Wisner this monring traveled all day got to Hooper 35 miles Thursday, May 15th I started from Hooper & got to Kennard 35 miles Friday, May 16th I got to Blair at six o'clock in the morning - went from thare down to the boat landing from thare to Mo Valley Jct and then I went to Neola Saturday, May 17th I am on CRI&P RR now - I was in Minden & Shelby & Avoca & to Walnut Sunday, May 18th I was at Walnut to day My foot is sore Monday, May 19th It is a raining to day Tuesday, May 20th I was at Fathers to day Wednesday, May 21st thru Monday, May 26th Was at Walnut all day at Pa's Tuesday, May 27th I am in Walnut yet the news came that Mr Butler was dead I got a letter from Ivah & John Young Wednesday, May 28th I am in Walnut today I wrote a letter to Lew Butler Thursday, May 29th I was around town in the forenoon then went out in the country whare they was a shelling corn Friday, May 30th I was in town all day - It rained in the after noon - It rained very hard this eve Saturday, May 31st It is a raining yet today Sunday, June 1st Pleasant today Monday, June 2nd I went to the ring ride - Went to the German Dance was up all night stayed in the saloon all night with Al Halcomb Tuesday, June 3rd Pleasant this morning - I started from Walnut on the Express - Names of stations Marne, Audubon, Exira, Oakfield, Audubon Jct, Atlantic, Wiota, Anita, Adair, Cacy, Guthrie, Stewart, Dexter, Erthay, got to Davenport at 9:00 in the evening - stopped 20 mintues in Iowa City for supper - stayed at the St. James Hotel Wednesday, June 4th Left Davenport at 11 o'clock came to Eldridge, Donoho, Dixon, Big Rock, Wheatland, Toranto, Massilon, Oxford Mills, Oxford Junction, Wyoming and Onslow - I rode to Mr Butlers with Sam Reid stayed all night.

Birt is sick Saturday, November 8th It rained this morning Birt & me went to Onslow in the after noon it rained hard in the after noon Sunday, November 9th I was at church to day went to Charleys to dinner Eva & me went to D Beans in the eve - stayed all night at Birts Monday, November 17th I went down to Mrs Butlers in the morning then up to Scorggies untill after dinner then down to Charleys stayed all night Tuesday, November 18th I was down to Mrs Butlers this morning then up to Uncle Hirams to dinner then to Charleys & Beans then to Mrs Hannas wood bea - stayed all night at Tom Greens Wednesday, November 19th I was to Charleys all day - Bell Green was here - the wind blew hard all day Thursday, November 20th I was a helping Charley all day - Cold to day Friday, November 21st I was to Onslow to day I was at R Greens to supper - stayed to Charleys all night Saturday, November 22nd Charley & Byron went to Monti - I went up to the School house & helped the teacher sweep Sunday, November 23rd I was at meeting & back to Charleys to dinner then down to Mrs Butlers then to Mr Ecklers to - Stayed to Charleys Monday, November 24th I was at home in the fore noon then up to school at noon then home - butchered a hog in the after noon - school begun Tuesday, November 25th I was up to Birts in the fore noon then home in the after noon - chopped wood a while Wednesday, November 26th It is a raining this morning and a freezing - It rained all day Thursday, November 27th I went to Onslow with Bart Walters came back went up to Birts & got my Rubber Boots came back home stayed all night Friday, November 28th It is a snowing this morning - Charley & me skined a calf this morning & banked the house the rest of the day - I was up to School Meeting in the eve Saturday, November 29th I was to Onslow - Charley went to Maquoketa Sunday, November 30th I was up to church went home then i went up to Birts & stayed all night Monday, December 1st I went to Canton with Birt & to Millers Mill & down to Charleys at night - pleasant to day Tuesday, December 2nd I helped Charley to cover the cribs & saw wood - Henry & me was over to Bys in the eve Wednesday, December 3rd Charley went to Maxon Sale i was up to help to clean the church - Edd Green & me went to Neelanes to a dance Thursday, December 4th I was at home all the fore noon then i was up to Scroggies then was a thrashing Friday, December 5th It is a raining this fore noon rained all day Saturday, December 6th It is a snowing I was at home all day Sunday, December 7th I was at church to day then up to Birts I was at meeting Monday, December 8th I was to Onslow to day i helped Birt to drive his hogs i received $10,00 from him Tuesday, December 9th Thare is a sleet to day I was down to Mrs Butlers to day at home in the after noon it is a raining Wednesday, December 10th It is a blustering this morning & all day I was at Charleys all day - Will & me went up to Wm Orrs in the eve - stayed all night to Mrs Orrs Tuesday, December 16th Jo Orr & me went to Onslow came back to Charleys stayed all night Wednesday, December 17th I was at home in the fore noon went to School then up to Scroggies went up to Wm Orrs in the eve - stayed all night at Mr Scroggies Thursday, December 18th Cold this morning went up to Birt Dubois this morning went to Clay Mills came back to Charleys in the after noon Friday, December 19th I went to Onslow to day came back with Steaven Carr stayed to Pete Blackmers to supper then to Charleys - Onslow 38 times Saturday, December 20th I was at Clay Mills to day with Charley Sunday, December 21st I was up to church I was down to Mrs Butlers to dinner back home in the evening Monday, December 22nd I was at home all day I went after Mrs Bean this eve for Byron Hall Tuesday, December 23rd I was over to Onslow to day Wednesday, December 24th I was at Clay Mills to a Shooting Match - I was up to R Greens in the evening - very cold Thursday, December 25th I was at home in the fore noon then i went up to Birt Duboises & came home Dell Winnegar stayed all night Friday, December 26th I stayed at home all day choped some wood - Charley went to the creek after a load of wood Saturday, December 27th I was a hunting this fore noon got a rabbit - Charley went to the Junction - Dell & Fred & Bell Tippett and Bell Winegar - Arch & Fern Roberts was here Lyman stayed all night Sunday, December 28th I was up to church to day -
