Very pleasant - At home all day - It is like summer - the skating is offell good - Harry is here yet Wednesday, January 2nd Very warm - Harry & I went to Canton on the skates & took Bert he got a tooth pulled Thursday, January 3rd It snowed a little this morning - Harry & me went a hunting got 1 rabbit & 2 squirrels Friday, January 4th Harry went to Center Junction - I shot 1 rabbit - It is cloudy to day Saturday, January 5th I went a hunting with Geo Shroyer got 2 rabbits forenoon - Begun to make a chair afternoon Sunday, January 6th C. S. Geo Halls wife died this evening Wednesday, February 20th Very warm - I made a bolster for Mal Kelly & 2 for Will McGlocklin Thursday, February 21st Pleasant - I was to Geo Halls wifes funeral - the sleighing most gone again Friday, February 22nd At home - Jacks folks was here - I went home with Jack & went to Church with them in the evening - the roads are offell sloppy Saturday, February 23rd I came home this morning - at home all day Sunday, February 24th It thawed a lot to day the creek is up some the snow abought all gone Monday, February 25th Pleasant - The river is to high to cross very mudy Tuesday, February 26th Pleasant - the river high yet - the ice has not gone out - watter going down afternoon Wednesday, February 27th Misty - the river the same yet Thursday, February 28th Roy took Bert & me to Onslow to go to Maquoketa to see Dr Carson & Son The roads very mudy - We are at Ivahs this evening went & seen the Dr after supper - We will stay with Ivah & Charley to night Friday, March 1st I took Bert to see Dr Carson & Son Saturday, March 2nd Very pleasant - Came to Onslow & Chas Ames brought us home Sunday, March 3rd Bert has the head ache very bad this morning & nearly all day - It snowed most all day - Mr. Stearly moved away to day Monday, March 4th Pleasant - Bert is no better this morming - he is getting weaker all the time - he feels a little easier this afternoon Tuesday, March 5th Pleasant - no Mail this forenoon - Bert feels more cheerful to day Wednesday, March 6th Pleasant - Bert feels abought the same - I filed a saw for T Moran last night & 1 today for Koppes Thursday, March 7th Pleasant - I butchered my pig this morning & helped to chop ice out of the road on the river bottom - it is very mudy to day Friday, March 8th Pleasant - The last day of school - it snowed a little last night - they are topping the sugar bush Saturday, March 9th At home - Chas Ames & wife was here to see Bert this afternoon - he dont feel as good this after noon Sunday, March 10th Pleasant - At home all day - It thawed a little - a Total Eclipse of the Moon this eve Monday, March 11th Pleasant - I put down some floor & put in 2 windows for T Hamilton 3/4 day Tuesday, March 12th I went up to Snyders & Tom Greens was thare to dinner Jack & Lizzie was here Wednesday, March 13th Cold to day - At home - we was up all night with Bert for the first - We called Bart & Rilla at Midnight - he was bad Thursday, March 14th At home all day with Bert Friday, March 15th We was up last night again - it is snowing hard this morning - Bert is no better Saturday, March 16th Very pleasant - Up again last night - Bert feels a little better Sunday, March 17th Very pleasant - Bert dont feel so well to day he has a bad cold Monday, March 18th Like summer - I was up Temple Hill forenoon & I was up to Mr Koppas afternoon Friday, March 22nd Pleasant - At home forenoon then up to Mr Koppes & fixed there door then i came home & went & cut some wood Saturday, March 23rd Cloudy - cut wood after the Mail came Sunday, March 24th At home - Bert is not so well 1 spasm first Monday, March 25th Summer - Bert had a bad spell at 8 o'clock & 10 o'clock is pretty weak to day thare is lots of company here to day Tuesday, March 26th Summer - Bert a little more cheerfull - he feels better - Aunt Fannie came down to day Wednesday, March 27th Like summer - Bert feels pretty good to day - Head ache afternoon - Mary Snyder & Kate Hanna & Harry was here in the eve Thursday, March 28th Summer - At home most all day - I was up to Mr Koppes after dinner to see them saw wood - Bert has the head ache very hard this afternoon Friday, March 29th Offel hot & dry - Bert had another bad spell this morning at 4,30 o'clock we called Bart & Rilla again & at 12 again then at 4:15 & again at 5:30 o'clock & again at 8:30 Saturday, March 30th Looks rainy - Bart stayed with us untill 2 o'clock this morning then Roy came & stayed - Bert had one more spasm at 1:40 then fell a sleep again & again at 6 then at 7:30 & at 10:15 he had a hard one 12:15 & another & 2:15 again & then at 7:40 Harry came up this forenoon - It begun to rain this eve 15 Sunday, March 31st Rain all night - Tom Hamilton & Harry stayed up till midnight then Bell & me - Bert had another spasm at 2 o'clock this morning & again at 5 & 8:15 - Ivah came to day this morning Monday, April 1st Cloudy - Bert had a spasm at 2:45 this morning - Harry went after Bart & Rilla in a hurry 19 Christina Scroggie & Kate Hanna was here this afternoon - It snowed very hard this afternoon for a little while - Bert had a sinking spell at 5,30 & it lasted until 8:5 o'clock when he died - he had 20 of them spasms in all Tuesday, April 2nd Very pleasant - The ground is covered with snow this morning - Mr Fletcher & Fox Ralston stayed all night Wednesday, April 3rd Very pleasant - The funeral at 11 o'clock Rev Bullock preached - the roads are very mudy Thursday, April 4th Very pleasant - roads drying fast - Harry & me went up to Will Leonards in the morning & went a fishing afternoon caught a few chubs Friday, April 5th It looks like rain - I was at home all day Saturday, April 6th Looks like rain - I spaded a radish bed & sowed some radishes & lettuce - W. N. Tippett & my self started to go to Onslow to sign some pension papers for Mrs Herington & it began to rain & we turned back - Ivah went home to day - Harry is going to stay a few days - It rained some Sunday, April 7th It rained some - Jack & Lizzie was over to day Monday, April 8th I went to Onslow with W. N. Tippett Tuesday, April 9th I went to Jack Orrs & made a privy for there District Wednesday, April 10th Made fence for E. Green Thursday, April 11th I finished at 1 o'clock & came home Friday, April 12th I was sawing & splitting wood at home & I painted the Black Board Saturday, April 13th Pleasant - I finished my wood this afternoon Sunday, April 14th I went to Church then home with Geo Scroggie to dinner then to Lew Meads came home in the eve Monday, April 15th W. N. Tippett & me went to Jas Kenneys to make a tank 3/4 day Tuesday, April 16th Doing the same - got through at 4 o'clock Wednesday, April 17th Pleasant - I went up to I. N. French - I made fence for him 1/2 day I went to Prayer Meeting Thursday, April 18th Made fence got through at 3 o'clock 3/4 d - I went up to the Graveyard then to Mr Dennisons then home Friday, April 19th I made a cupboard for Mrs Dennison 3/4 - Reese Taylor plowed my garden Saturday, April 20th I planted Potatoes & garden truck forenoon - I went to Canton afternoon with Tom Hamilton Sunday, April 21st At home all day Monday, April 22nd Windy - I helped W. N. Tippett butcher a hog then I white washed Tuesday, April 23rd I was down to Emeline to day Wednesday, April 24th Pleasant - I walked to Onslow & back to B. Halls - stayed thare for dinner then came to Lue Butlers to see how his wife was then home - She died this afternoon at 4 o'clock Thursday, April 25th We began Wm Leonards barn we laid the rock piers 3/4 day Friday, April 26th Pleasant - We was to Mrs Butlers funeral Saturday, April 27th Pleasant - Hueing poles all day - 1 day Sunday, April 28th Pleasant - At home Monday, April 29th Worked on the barn 1 day Tuesday, April 30th Getting ready to raise the barn 1/2 then came home at noon - W. N. Back at noon - I was drawing a map of the Graveyard Tuesday, November 5th I was to Election all day Wednesday, November 6th Rained last night - I was a hunting this forenoon at home after noon Thursday, November 7th Rain forenoon - At home untill 3 o'clock then Tom Hamilton & I went to Onslow to get Election returns Friday, November 8th At home forenoon hunting afternoon Saturday, November 9th I was up to Jo Hannas to dinner then to E Hortons & to Ecklers & home Sunday, November 10th At home was up to W. N. Tippetts to dinner Monday, November 11th I was cutting a little wood Tuesday, November 12th Cutting wood forenoon Wednesday, November 13th Misty all day - I was cutting some wood part of the day Thursday, November 14th Misty all day - I was up to Wm Carrs forenoon cut some rafters for a hen house cut some wood after noon & was hunting got 2 rabbits Friday, November 15th I went up to John Dennisons put on a little siding & made a door then went to the Church & helped make a shead afternoon I was to Lue Butters to dinner Saturday, November 16th It rained last night some - I was chopping to day Sunday, November 17th At home Monday, November 18th Chopping to day Tuesday, November 19th Snowing - The first tracking snow this fall - I was a hunting got 1 squirrel forenoon Wednesday, November 20th I was up to Tom Greens to dinner & home Thursday, November 21st I was cutting a little wood part of the day Friday, November 22nd Chopping wood Saturday, November 23rd I went to Canton afternoon Sunday, November 24th I went to Jack Orrs took the gun & shot 2 squirrels & 1 rabbit Monday, November 25th Jack Orr & Reese Taylor drawed me 11 loads of wood Tuesday, November 26th I was working on Mal Kellys wood rack forenoon - Jo Hanna brought me a hog afternoon then W. N. Tippett & me butchered it Wednesday, November 27th I worked on the wood rack a while & salted my hog Thursday, November 28th Thanksgiving - I was a hunting a while got 1 rabbit Friday, November 29th Finished the rack & cut wood Saturday, November 30th Cut wood & begun a hay rack for Koppas Sunday, December 1st It snowed hard last night Monday, December 2nd Made a hay rack for Koppes Tuesday, December 3rd 10 below zero - I went to Onslow with Tom Hamilton Wednesday, December 4th I made Charley Herington a sink Thursday, December 5th 12 below - I put in a sled tongue & 2 rollers for Jas Hamilton Friday, December 6th Charley Herington drawed me 3 loads of wood I cut some Saturday, December 7th I cut some wood & finished Tom Hamiltons hand sled & went to Canton with Charley Taylor afternoon Sunday, December 8th At home forenoon & up to Tom Kellys afternoon Monday, December 9th Cut wood & made L Mead a hand sled Tuesday, December 10th I put in a pole for sled tongue for Mr Hovey - was up to Charley Taylor to dinner Charley & me went most to Donahoes Mill then came back & went to Canton on the ice Wednesday, December 11th I went up to Tom Kellys & made a clothes closet It snowed a little all day Thursday, December 12th I was to Canton this morning with Chas Taylor on skates cut wood after noon Friday, December 13th Cut wood forenoon went to Canton afternoon on the ice with Chas Taylor Saturday, December 14th We was to Canton on the ice fore noon & was to Tom Hamiltons shooting match after noon here at the mill Sunday, December 15th At home a skating a while Monday, December 16th Cut some wood it is fogy & misty Tuesday, December 17th It rained most of the forenoon I cut wood afternoon Wednesday, December 18th I cut wood part of the day it is cloudy Thursday, December 19th I cut wood a while & it began to rain & was misting all afternoon Friday, December 20th Cut a little wood & it rained some Saturday, December 21st Cut a little wood it is misty & fogy the road is very mudy Sunday, December 22nd At home all day very mudy Monday, December 23rd Like summer - Bell went to Cascade with her Pa - I filled a saw for Will Printy & one for Lue Mead & made two hand sleds for L Mead - It is very mudy - Harry came to day Tuesday, December 24th I went to Onslow with Tom Hamilton - It rained most all day & evening - Offel mudy Wednesday, December 25th It is snowing a little this morning - It cleard of & was very pleasant - at home all day Harry & W. N. Tippett & wife was here to dinner we had duck Thursday, December 26th I cut wood forenoon then Harry & me went to the Graveyard we got 2 squirrels coming home Friday, December 27th Cut wood forenoon - we went a hunting afternoon & got nothing Saturday, December 28th Cloudy to day - Cut wood most all day & finished my wood pile Sunday, December 29th At home I was a skating a while Monday, December 30th I was a skating this morning a while I filed a saw for John Supple & was up in the woods to see them saw wood for Tom Hamilton It began to snow at 3 o'clock & snowed hard untill 6 then cleared off Tuesday, December 31st 8 below zero - Very pleasant to day |
